About the Coalition for Queer Creative Arts Therapies
Mission and vision
Mission
Since 2020, the mission of the Coalition for Queer Creative Arts Therapies is to mobilize and empower queer or ally students and practitioners who collaborate with the LGBTQIA+ community in their work as creative arts therapists. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive network that shares resources and knowledge, while promoting queer ethos of care and humility to ensure equitable representation across the creative arts therapy milieu.
Vision
Our vision is a queer world of joy and belonging, where LGBTQIA+ people can access inclusive and affirming creative arts therapies services that honor their unique identities and experiences. We strive to create a community of queer and ally students and practitioners can come together to advocate for equitable representation, challenge biases, and dismantle barriers that exist within the creative arts therapies. We aspire to cultivate a safe and nurturing environment where all voices are heard, valued, and respected, leading to the development of innovative and culturally sensitive practices that address the specific needs and challenges faced by queer individuals. Guided by principles of social justice and inclusivity, the Coalition for Queer Creative Arts Therapies seeks to actively engage with diverse perspectives, promote interdisciplinary approaches, and advance research and advocacy efforts to expand access to queer-affirming creative arts therapy services. By working together, we aim to foster positive change, promote mental health and well-being, and create a society that embraces the transformative power of the arts for all.Â
